Rescued tourists arrive at the Laem Sok port of Muang district, Trat, Tuesday night. (Police photo)A potential nightmare had a happy ending as twenty-three Thai tourists, a boat driver and two boat attendants were rescued after their speedboat sank just off the eastern province Trat Tuesday night. Their boat was swamped by big waves about three kilometres away from the Laem Sok landing. Soldiers, police, customs officials and rescue workers deployed their boats to save the victims, all of whom are Thai, from a stormy sea. Survivors said the tour group included the wife of the Khlong Yai district chief.
